Island Life, Aggie Traditions
Student life at Galveston is as vibrant as the coastal environment that surrounds it. The familiar spirit of Aggieland, tangible as the sea breeze, infuses campus traditions and activities such as Midnight Yell, the annual Maritime Ball and Ring Day where students can receive their "Aggie Gold" right by the ocean. At Texas A&M Galveston, 30% of students are first-generation Aggies. Support for student activities gives every student the opportunity to embrace Texas A&M traditions and get involved in more than 60 student organizations.
Navigating a World-Class Maritime Education
The Texas A&M Maritime Academy is one of six maritime academies in the United States and the only academy located on the Gulf Coast. Academy graduates are among the most sought-after officers for service in the armed forces, on ocean-going and inland vessels, and in land-side maritime industries.
Students who enroll become part of the Corps of Cadets or Navy ROTC. Beyond typical college costs, required sea terms, specialized uniforms and Coast Guard licensing exams quickly add to their fees. Scholarship support and other gifts help recruit talented students to Galveston shores, ensuring they can afford the specialized education that powers global shipping and protects our coasts.
