Life at Texas A&M Galveston

Campus LIfe

Living on Pelican Island

Life at Texas A&M University at Galveston is shaped by the coastal culture of Pelican Island, where Galveston Bay meets campus and the Gulf becomes both a classroom and a backyard. From a private beach and fishing dock to marshes, wetlands and the nearby ship channel, students learn and live alongside the water.

Here, the waves, wildlife and tight-knit community create an Aggie experience unlike any other. Check out the video below to go behind the scenes with students as they show us what life at Galveston looks like.

Built on Tradition ...

Some traditions can only happen where maroon meets blue.

At Texas A&M University at Galveston, unique programs and time-honored traditions create experiences that shape students into Aggies by the Sea for life.

While the Gulf Coast offers a different setting, students share in the Aggie traditions that have shaped Texas A&M for more than a century. As the university’s marine and maritime-focused branch campus, Texas A&M Galveston provides a world-class waterfront education while proving that Aggieland has a coastline, too.

Students honor traditions such as the 12th Man, Aggie Ring, Big Event, Elephant Walk and Midnight Yell, led by the Texas A&M Galveston Yell Leaders. At the same time, they chart their own course by creating traditions and memories unique to life on the island.
