Early CampusCushing Memorial LibraryThe Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas opens its doors on 2,416 acres donated by citizens of Brazos County. The gift sparked the hope for a bright future for Texas A&M and represented the spirit of generosity that would come to define the university that grew up upon it.

Students StudyingCushing Memorial LibraryThe university creates its first official scholarship program, the Opportunity Award, to help students, particularly from rural communities, achieve an Aggie education. Less than a decade later, it was already supporting more than 400 students.

Academic BuildingCushing Memorial LibraryThe Texas A&M College Development Foundation, known today as the Texas A&M Foundation, is formed with the purpose of helping build a brighter future for Texas A&M through philanthropy. At its start, it had just $100 in assets.

1968
Keeton Scott '26PES ScholarDonors establish the President’s Endowed Scholarship program with five endowments of $25,000 each. Since then, the program has become one of the Foundation’s most visible giving programs. Its endowment has grown to more than $139 million and supported a total of over 10,000 high-achieving students and counting.

Capturing the Spirit CampaignTexas A&M launches its first major fundraising campaign, Capturing the Spirit, with a goal of raising $500 million in six years. At the time, it was the largest campaign goal ever set by a public university, and in a true testament to Aggie generosity, it met its goal 10 months ahead of schedule.

FEA ScholarsThe Texas A&M Foundation establishes its Foundation Excellence Award program to help underserved students achieve their dreams of becoming Aggies. Today, the program supports more than 800 current students thanks to donors’ generosity.

Hagler Center Mockup1990sThe Jon L. Hagler Center opens its doors as the new headquarters for the Texas A&M Foundation. Supported by a lead gift from Jon Hagler ’58, the building created a physical home for philanthropy in the heart of campus.

Jon L. Hagler CenterToday, the Texas A&M Foundation manages more than $3.7 billion in assets and serves as the university’s primary academic fundraising institution. It continues building a brighter future across campus, including for the approximately 11,300 students annually who receive scholarships given through the Foundation.
